This is piece two of four. These paintings give the impression of quiet, contemplative animals. The horse is typically always in motion. As an animal of prey, they are highly aware of their surroundings and small changes to their environment. Horses are unpredictable and reactive. Somehow the alert, unmoving horse makes it more unpredictable. “So the horse that walks around, eats grass, looks at the view and gives every appearance of tranquillity was, in fact, designed by God to explode.” – Dr. George Pratt
